Frequently Asked Questions
9. Is physical therapy like massage therapy or chiropractic care?
Various types of massage are sometimes a portion of our treatment if your condition would benefit from it. We never use massage as the only type of treatment for a condition and many times it is not what we believe the patient would benefit from the most.
At Everybody Physical Therapy we also use several forms of manual therapy during our treatments. We do not perform high velocity thrusting (manipulations) like many chiropractors do. Our goal is to get the patient pain free and independent as soon as possible so that they don't need continued therapy. We feel that this is best accomplished with the inclusion of exercise to improve strength and flexibility so that the body can heal itself.
10. I just had orthopedic surgery; will physical therapy help me heal faster?
Yes! At Everybody Physical Therapy, we will work with your doctor to follow the protocol and specific course of rehab that will help you heal and recover optimally. By designing and supervising individualized programs, we will help you recover as quickly as possible and get back to your life.
11. Do I need a prescription from my doctor to get physical therapy?
At Everybody Physical Therapy our therapists are certified for direct access. This means we can treat you without a referral. This takes specialized training and certification and is not available at every physical therapy clinic. However, many insurance companies still require a referral from a physician in order to pay for physical therapy. Contact your insurance company to see if they require a doctor's referral.
12. What types of injuries can be treated at Everybody Physical Therapy?
At Everybody Physical Therapy we treat a wide range of conditions and injuries. Check out our services page for specific conditions. If you have any questions about whether physical therapy is right for you please call us. (503) 224-1947
