Osteoporosis is a disease in which the bones become extremely porous, are subject to fracture, and heal
slowly. The type of fractures most common with osteoporosis are compression fractures in the vertebrate
of the spine, and hip fractures. Osteoporosis typically occurs in women following menopause and often
leads to increased curvature of the spine from vertebral collapse. At Everybody physical therapy patients
are taught the importance of proper posture and exercise to combat and correct for the affects of this
condition. Individual exercise instruction is given for protection of the spine and work to prevent fractures.
